My Approach to Helping

Are you feeling that things are bleak and hopeless? Are you struggling with the reminders of difficult experiences in your past? Or maybe you are living with a chronic illness that has lowered your quality of life. We all feel the pull not only to survive but to thrive in our lives. Depression, anxiety, trauma, illness, and pain can limit our ability to reach our goals or even make it difficult to get through the day. These limitations are not a personal failing. Sometimes, it takes a trained professional to help us overcome or manage these personal challenges. Together, I believe we can work towards making positive changes in your life, relationships, and self.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have additional training and experience in treating interpersonal trauma. Interpersonal trauma occurs when someone experiences trauma caused to them by another person and often includes childhood abuse. Interpersonal trauma differs from other traumatic experiences such as experiencing an accident. Often, interpersonal trauma occurs repeatedly over a period of time and may include physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. In addition to core symptoms of trauma, interpersonal trauma takes a heavy toll on a person's self-esteem, and treating interpersonal trauma involves focusing on changing self-worth.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Being a therapist allows me to actualize two core components of my personality: a deep compassion for the suffering of others and an enduring curiosity about how others see the world. Therapy is more than a profession for me. It is an extension of who I am, and I feel honored to have the opportunity be in a position of service to my community.

My Therapy Focus

I take an integrated cognitive approach to therapy, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, exposure therapies, with person-centered therapy, mindfulness approaches, psychological education, positive psychology, and holistic health education. The specific therapeutic interventions I use from these approaches will depend on your unique personality and needs. While using these approaches, I often express myself authentically with curiosity and humor.
