My Approach to Helping
Warm, playful, direct. I collaborate with you to make the therapy you need. I will guide you in your own reflection and provide direct feedback about how your mind and the body can work together to support healthy relationships, work life, self exploration and deeper intimacy. I am informed by a variety of roles as a therapist, teacher and mentor to other young therapists. My skills come from cognitive approaches and body centered therapies that rest comfortably on current research, and will provide guidance to a change in coping.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love seeing people come alive! When people get the help they need and the guidance to do their best work, huge change is possible. Transforming yourself from the inside out tends to rub off. I am constantly inspired and touched by the deepened love of a marriage, the first few steps toward independence after a trying relationship end, or the manifestation of a new idea, creativity or venture. Human potential, and capacity for life is the strongest, most versatile substance known to man ~ stronger than diamonds and more valuable.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
Even though I work with many people who identify themselves as being traumatized or carrying a trauma, I need to know how they live now. In order to really help someone I need the honest reality of today. This includes their secret talents and strong points, as well as circumstances that they fear or events that have just started happening. Its so hard to walk into a room and start trusting someone, no matter how ready or motivated you are, we all need to build trust. So, when I am granted the precious and often messy truth of toady, I\'m very excited. Because, I know the person I\'m working with will get so much more and I will have what I need to do my very best.
