My Approach to Helping

As a clinical social worker, my approach is rooted in understanding my clients in the framework of their environment. This holistic view encompasses family, social, economic, physical, cultural and spiritual experiences. I strive to build an authentic connection with each of my clients and utilize a "strength-based approach" as a means to see opportunities and solutions rather than problems and emotional discomfort. My aim is to engage with my clients in a collaborative effort to find sustainable change through growth and learning experiences. My primary areas of clinical focus are trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues, parenting and child development.
My background with children and families comes from prior work in the classroom with special needs children and working in supplemental education. It was this experience that helped shape my view of the client-therapist relationship and assists with making meaningful changes in my clients' lives.
I work with individuals, couples, children and families. One of my specialties is as a play therapist. I believe in providing children of all ages a safe environment to express their thoughts and emotions without judgment as a means of healing from past wounds, regulating emotions or supporting overall development.

More Info About My Practice

As a Certified Group Therapist, I believe that the greatest form of healing comes by way of connecting with others .
Group therapy is ideal for people with interpersonal concerns such as, assertiveness, trust, anxiety, depression, isolation, anger and loss. A process group (the type of group I offer) is a social microcosm- that is, the problems that individuals have in relationships are replicated in the group.

As a group therapist, I can assist with helping you to understand how and why you react the way you do in different situations. Being in my group will aid you in learning new ways of interacting and dealing with people in your life. I have seen members improve their ability to communicate, gain more assertive behavior, learn intimacy, and become less fearful about being honest with their feelings. As a result, group members develop more authentic connections with others in their life.

Current groups:

Interpersonal Process Group (all genders): Every Thursday 5:30-7:00- in person
Women's Process Group: Every Thursday 7:15-8:45- virtual
Teen Connection Group: Every Monday 6:00-7:30- virtual
