My Approach to Helping
I believe that we all have the ability to change and realize our personal potential. Without support and coping skills, life and its stressors can get in the way of, rather than enhance personal growth. When that happens, we often begin to compare ourselves to others, fear change and challenges, experience unrewarding relationships, we numb our emotions, and most painful of all, we begin to believe that we are alone in our struggle. You don't have to struggle alone. In our work together, I will help you discover and explore your true self and look clearly at your life and its challenges and opportunities. I work with individuals, couples, and families to develop relational skills and increase intimacy in relationships.
More Info About My Practice
Trust and confidence in a therapist are paramount in counseling. You are always in charge of the process, and I welcome feedback as we work together to help you achieve your goals.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
You don't have to have a defined clinical issue to decide to engage in counseling. The process of counseling can be very helpful for personal growth and insight.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
My own life story and personal challenges have given me a desire to walk with others as they write their life stories. I love being with clients as they discover and embrace their authentic selves. Counseling and psychotherapy are merely terms describing the process; the process itself is my passion.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Wisdom is knowing when to ask for help. Strength is facing issues with courage and vulnerability. I counter this stigma by being human; letting clients see that I am just a person, not an expert. The client is the expert on him or herself.
