My Approach to Helping
My approach to helping people is meeting people where they are at, the pain they are in, at the pace they feel comfortable. I believe that the most important thing in finding the right therapist for you is the connection. "Does she get me?" "Does she understand what I'm going through?" "Does this even work?" And the answers to all of those questions is "absolutely YES!!" In my 14 years of this incredible and rewarding work I have seen so much despair and hopelessness turn into healing and health, but you get out of therapy what you put into it. Therapy is by no means an easy road, it's sometimes very tough but also so very rewarding. At the end of this road, there can be such peace, hope, and healing. I'm trained to Level 3 in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy and really enjoy using this with the couples that I see. I'm passionate about my work with couples and my work with men and women alike that are struggling with life transitions, anxiety, childhood traumas, and difficult upbringings.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
My personal feeling on therapy is that everybody needs it! Therapy is a place you can come and unapologetically be completely you. The truth is that there are some pretty terrible things that happen to all of us in life. These things deeply affect all of us and leave scars. These are nothing to be ashamed about. Therapy is a way to work through all the emotions we are feeling rather than stuffing them. This allows for great healing and closure in one's life and an ability to work through strong feelings we thought were never going to go away or we were never able to get through.
