My Approach to Helping
I specialize in fixing complex marriage and family issues. I specialize in finding the root cause of complex problems, and helping people overcome and find their way out of them through awareness and tangible action steps.
I bring my work as an adjunct college professor of psychology into my counseling practice, providing the latest resources, research and information on psychological topics and family relationship issues
I received my Masters of Science (MS), and not arts (MA), in Counseling Psychology which has rooted my therapeutic practice in research, science and scholarship. I have over 10,000 contact hours of working with families and couples and 1000 contact hours of teaching
My therapeutic approach is rooted in my corner tenets:
1. Insight and understanding: I often tell my clients that 75% of therapy is understanding yourself and your problem, and 25% is the solution. You can't fix things you don't understand, which is why insight and understanding is a big part of what of what I focus on with my clients.
2. Teachable: Any problem can change if you are teachable; if you are willing to change, compromise, try something new and learn, you can fix any problem you have. I've never met a problem I can't fix if people are willing to let go and let in new solutions and fresh perspectives.
3. Purpose and Meaning: Not knowing who you are, what you are good at and how you should spend your time ends up being the root cause for a large number of people who genuinely believe their problem is actually something else. Which is why I focus on helping my clients to understand who they are and how they can shape their identity and purpose.
