My Approach to Helping
My Philosophy and Specialty: Healing comes through bringing mind, body and spirit into balance. Whoever you are, no matter how much you are hurting, confused, fearful, discouraged, sad or overwhelmed, you have within you an innate wisdom that knows what you need to heal. Each individual's healing journey is unique. No one therapy method or solution fits all. In a safe and supportive, non-pathologizing setting, I specialize in working with individuals wanting healing from experiences of past trauma, emotional and physical abuse and neglect. Such experiences in one's history can have wide-ranging results, including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, eating disorders, dissociation, addictions and problems with intimacy and attachment. Sometimes the complexities of hurts in childhood result in post traumatic stress in adulthood. On the therapeutic journey you may re-member and re-collect yourself and discover or reconnect to your creative self.

But sometimes the healing process gets interrupted with life complications and further traumas which may leave experiences, memories and events frozen in time in the central nervous system. We may use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help develop and strengthen your inner resources and help reduce the emotional intensity of past experiences. EMDR is remarkable for its ability to bring focus to the issue and bring together images, thoughts, feelings and body sensations in the healing process. We may use IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help you explore and get to know the protections and patterns you have developed for keeping parts of you that hurt from getting hurt all over again or from hijacking your personality in ways that jeopardize your relationships to others and your daily life. Following your unique needs we may also use Art-for-Healing exercises in combination with inner focus work. You may come in in simply needing to talk with a skilled professional who can help support you through life transitions and decisions. I am also
