My Approach to Helping

I am a Latina Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I love working with clients to help them to get past difficult stages in their life. I went to UCLA as an undergraduate and then continued on to get my MSW at UCLA as well in 2003. I received my LCSW (license to practice) in 2008 and opened up my own clinical practice at the time. From 2008 to 2016 I worked with a variety of clients including children, adolescents, couples, families, and individuals who were going through challenging situations or had undergone trauma. Throughout my career I have worked in the school system, in a hospital setting, and have provided Supervision to other clinicians. In terms of my approach, I believe in providing culturally relevant, and individualized support to people no matter what they are going through. I work with a variety of modalities depending on what is best for you and your needs. I worked as a fitness self defense instructor for many years and that led me down a path of recognizing the importance of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle in supporting our best mental health. I am also a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider. This means that I received specialized training in helping to consider nutrition, lifestyle, spiritual health, herbs, movement and supplementation in helping people to get healthy I am a follower of Jesus so I am especially passionate about helping others who share my faith. I believe it is my calling to help others to feel well so that they can fulfill THEIR purpose. I provide services primarily via Telehealth.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Sometimes people are concerned about what it says about them if they go to therapy. When we make a decision to go to therapy it is saying that we are willing to learn and improve our emotional intelligence, our relationships, and deal with stress better. Think of it like getting a personal trainer to improve your physique and your strength. We choose to invest in what we want to improve and with the help of a professional we can hone in and see improvements quicker. Not only do we feel better but the people around us benefit because we have more patience and improved interactions with them as well.
