My Approach to Helping
Welcome! My name is Makenna and I want to start off by saying thank you for being here and for taking the difficult first step in beginning therapy. I know it is scary but I am so glad you are here.
My therapeutic approach focuses on healing the mind, body and soul. I view therapy through an integrative and holistic lens in order to find the root cause of an issue rather than a surface level solution. I use evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Practices. My approach is strengths based and I strive to create an open, non judgemental, safe environment for my clients. I want to help you believe in yourself again and give you mindfulness tools and techniques to help manage your symptoms. Therapy is not a “one size fits all” therefore my approach is individualized and personalized to you and your journey. I have experience working with children and adults with depression, anxiety, substance use, PTSD, trauma, and grief.
