My Approach to Helping
Ever heard people mentioning that they are in an “existential crisis?” An existential crisis can be triggered by life events such as relationship losses, death of a loved one, quarter- or mid-life crises, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck in life. Some of the symptoms may include feeling alone in the world and experiencing unsettling emotions like uncertainty, despair and anguish etc. If left unchecked, this can lead us to experience overwhelming feelings like depression and anxiety or start doubting our purpose in the world.
At my personal practice, Encompassing Therapy and Counselling, I am a psychotherapist support adults experiencing anxiety in life transitions and help them navigate the tension between individuality and belonging so that they find empowerment, clarity, and peace in their lives. My approach is a relational one. This means that I support my clients to be the best versions of themselves through authentic dialogues.
Mental health is not only for those who feel helpless. It is for anyone, myself included. The beauty of therapy is that it is a safe space to explore our most authentic selves and explore ways to own our physical, personal, spiritual and social lives. You are not alone.
More Info About My Practice
Founded by Magdelen Cheng in her journey to finding her authentic Self, Encompassing Therapy is a practice specialising in existential therapy for individuals, groups, and corporates.
Through authentic dialogues, we support clients going through life events and transitions that lead them to question their meaning in life. Encompassing Therapy also offers tailored experiential and counselling workshops for groups and organisations, including training for healthcare professionals struggling to integrate their authentic selves into their work and personal lives.
Encompassing’s unique approach to therapy is holistic and all-encompassing. Our existential practice looks at a person’s life through different lenses: spiritual, biological, religious, and how one relates to their own experience.
Our mission is to adapt and introduce existential therapy to the conventional collectivistic culture of Asian society and promote acceptance and adoption of this relatively new psychotherapeutic approach in the region.
