My Approach to Helping
When you work with me, we work together. I listen with compassion, and using a large toolkit of integrative psychology, help you navigate out of anxiety, depression, or physical pain in a holistic way. Often our work will begin with determining and understanding your personal strengths and vulnerabilities. Together we will develop a plan to help you build resilience and develop skills to help you deal with the tension of life's situations with comfort confidence.
When I work with a couple, I evaluate their developmental stage to help them understand their challenge and strengths. I teach them skills to understand themselves and their partners so they can be constructive in their communications and actions rather than react to situations.
In pre-marital counseling I evaluate the attachment style of each partner to understand their mode of relating to each other. I then provide a three hour evaluation. In the first part I explain the strengths and vulnerabilities of the partner's relationship. The second part I provide guidelines to avoid getting in stalemates and misunderstanding and learn deal with stresses and conflicts that will strengthen the relationship.
I have successfully helped individuals, couples, and families overcome conflicts, anxiety, depression, trauma, physical pain, and interpersonal conflicts. I integrate modern science-based healing modalities and have over 35 years of clinical experience. As a physician with extensive knowledge and experience, I work gently and rapidly. Most clients who come with acute grief or trauma overcome their problem within a few sessions. However, clients with deep traumas or chronic issues require longer therapy to clear the origin of the problems and change that pattern.
For couples and individuals interested in doing deep work over a weekend or a week, I offer intensive programs and retreats in various pristine locations.
