My Approach to Helping
I utilize an eclectic approach because everyone is different and what works for one person might not be appropriate for the next. Some areas of focus for me include working with issues related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, traumatic experiences, grief, codependency, intimacy issues, life transitions, relationship-based issues, alcohol andor drug abuse, dual diagnosis, family conflict and couple’s counseling. I also have training and experience providing EMDR therapy.
I received my undergraduate degree from Washington State University in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Through different life experiences, I became passionate about learning more about addiction and decided to go back to school. I received a master’s degree in Addictions Counseling in 2018 from Ottawa University. Wanting to be able to work with all people, I went back to school again and have since completed a second master’s degree in counseling (2022), also from Ottawa University.
I feel that I am realistic, unpretentious and straightforward. The working relationship I develop with my clients is what gives me gratitude and hope to continue working in this field. It is so special to see clients get to the goals they thought were impossible, and walking with them on the journey is a wonderful experience.
When I am not working I enjoy most outdoor activities – I love to get on my bicycle or out on the hiking trail.
