My Approach to Helping
Do you remember a time when you first met your partner and fell in love? You may have spent all of your free time together and dreamed of your future being "happily ever after." And as time has gone on, and although you love your partner very much, it seems like you just can't communicate anymore. Maybe you and your partner find yourselves getting into "the same old fight", and now you are feeling unappreciated and misunderstood.
Because you love your partner, and you want your relationship to last, you may have tried to solve these problems on your own. You may have talked to friends or family, read self help books, or done research on the internet, but you have still have not found ways to make lasting changes in your relationship.
Congratulations for taking the first step in looking online for a therapist to work with. By working with me and using Imago Relationship Therapy, you and your partner will gain the knowledge and tools to build closeness and connection, resolve conflict while staying close, and feel appreciated and understood.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Are you feeling stuck? Do you feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed? Are you reacting to people or situations in ways seem irrational? Francine Shapiro, Ph.D, creator of EMDR therapy, states that when we experience distress in the present moment, our emotional and behavioral reactions are coming from unprocessed memories of events that we've experienced in the past. These memories contain all the feelings, body sensations, and negative beliefs we hold about ourselves. These emotional and behavioral reactions are automatic and are independent of our higher thinking powers.
EMDR therapy is designed to go into our memory network and reprocess those memories. Our brains are then able to store the lessons from those events and let go of the negative emotions, body sensations, and beliefs that no longer serve us. EMDR is a highly researched and validated powerful process that has been shown to help.
All of us have had negative experiences in our lives that still effect us today. For example, some of us experienced abuse as children, while others of us were bullied and teased when we were growing up. Whatever happened to you, whether it was a big trauma or small, EMDR can help.
