My Approach to Helping
My name is Clarissa Laughlin! I am excited to introduce myself to you as a LCSW. Before entering the world of psychology, I worked as a professorial horse trainer. As a coach, I found myself interested in the psychology of what makes people's minds work. I would question negative thoughts, depression, and anxiety symptoms in my clientele. I found that this was my other passion, helping people think clearly, problem solve and identify their needs. As an entrepreneur, I recognized I was already coaching healthy lifestyles, professional athletes, and helping all walks of life gain a positive outlook on their own journeys. My experience as a coach has led me to the field of social work. Through my experiences, I have developed knowledge and specialties in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), along with psychodynamic methods to help shape their thinking and emotions to increase their ability to thrive.
My experience providing mental health services as well as lifestyle coaching has given me a passion for empowering individuals and communities and the desire to provide impactful services to my own community. I recognize that "therapy" can be intimidating. I am here to stand by your side and walk you through your own personal goals.
