My Approach to Helping

My name is Katie. My passion is helping individuals struggling in their daily lives by providing skills and individualized treatment plans to support you in your healing journey. Mental health is a key component to caring for yourself as a whole and I strive to meet you where you are on this journey, non-judgmentally and clinically. I provide Individual, group and family therapy as forms of treatment modalities. I utilize CBT and teach skills from DBT to help clients adjust to difficulties and challenges in their lives while utilizing the Strength's perspective.

I received my Masters of Social Work at the University of South Carolina in 2012 and BA in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Clinical Practicing. Clinical social work is a specialty practice area of social work which focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioral disturbances.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy is an act of self love and self care. You are stronger for reaching out and accepting help. Humans are innately connected and can only thrive with each other's support. Everyone has their own personal struggles and it takes courage to reach out when you are struggling. Mental health is HEALTH!
