My Approach to Helping
Do something different. Emotion, not information, drives behavior. The goal of our work is to help you create a deep emotional change which moves you toward greater health. Relaxation allows you to be more emotionally open, so I use hypnosis and guided imagery. This is a solution focused brief therapy approach, so we usually work between 3 and 9 weeks. Stories frame emotion, and we are the stories we tell ourselves, so this is a narrative therapy approach - a place where you can rewrite your life. The consultation is free. Come by if you would like to try something different from the standard CBT approach to therapy.
More Info About My Practice
My favorite metaphor for what I do: I'm a wilderness guide, and I've been through a lot of wildernesses, my own and other people's. I have many skills for the wilderness - I can start a fire in the rain, I know how to pitch a tent. The wilderness we're entering is your wilderness, and I've never been here before. I don't know the path, or what we'll encounter. I do know I can come along side you and help you find your way through the wilderness. The path we find has to be your path, though, because this is your wilderness.

I am generally successful with my clients, and often help people overcome stress, anxiety, phobias, depression, and chronic pain. I also work with career and college or high school major decisions.
