My Approach to Helping
In my decade-long journey as a clinical therapist, I have had the honor of collaborating with a wide variety of individuals. My priority as your therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space that allows you to navigate life’s stressors and to also provide guidance in helping you meet your identified goals.
My approach to treatment focuses on the perspective that you are the expert; you know your emotions, thoughts, and experiences best. I affirm and honor all identities and practice from a person-centered, strengths-based, social justice-informed approach. I recognize the impact the socio-political climate and systemic oppression have on an individual's life experiences and perspective. I offer a mix of support, feedback, and problem solving while working with you to utilize new tools and take actionable steps towards success.
I warmly welcome working with adolescents and young adults. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, relationship concerns, intimate partnerships, life transitions, and women’s issues. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQIA community by providing gender-affirming care through affirmative therapy. I utilize treatment methods such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed care models, solution-focused interventions, and attachment-based interventions.
I graduated from Grand Valley State University with my Masters in Social Work and have been in the clinical social work field for ten years, with over six of those years practicing in an outpatient therapy setting. I am currently completing a postgraduate certificate in Affirmative Therapy for transgender and nonbinary individuals. When I am not at the office, you can find me enjoying time in nature, reading, exploring new cuisine, and spending time with my partner and our rescue dog.
