My Approach to Helping
Counselling help individual to make better life choices and to move forward in their life. Sometime for some client counselling help them to find that missing puzzle in their life and for some to find their authentic self, inner peace etc.
My own journey in counselling began around mid-age in which I was stuck at a crossroads with career burnout and personal issues. Thus, I begin a long journey of self-exploration, finding myself and my own healing journey. My personal motto in life and therapy is 'that which does not kill me, makes me stronger,' a popular quote by Nietzsche.
This had further strengthened my belief that each and every one of us has the strength to heal and discover one's self and find that peace within. This belief had been affirmed by what I seen in some of my client’s courage and strength in working towards their healing journey. Thus, it is my goal as a therapist to help client to discover their inner strength and to move forward in their life.
A therapy session with me means a session of support, emphatic, and a non-judgmental, therapeutic safe space for you to explore and express yourself freely.
I especially like the part in which Irwin Yalom in The Gift of Therapy: An Open Letter to a New Generation of Therapists and Their Patients, quoted this: on therapist and client.

I find it so true after being a therapist for so many years, therapy is both way that both therapist and client grow as a person and how much our client allowed us to be in their world or healing journey for healing and growth to take place. How Psychotherapy Can Help
I believe generally in life there will be moment that we got stuck and things seems to go haywire. What we need is a lift to unstuck us and put us on the correct path again, and this is where counselling or therapy can help.
Counselling also helps us to make better and more effective life choices and moving forward in our life. Most importantly i believed most client seek to find their authentic self, happiness, peace within self, in short a self that is balanced, centred and whole.
During this pandemic time, its quite common to see client struggle due to the pandemic that impacted their mental well being, and for some its can be kind of scary as never expect it could happen to them, with counselling it help client to manage their emotional regulation and navigate their life to be back on track again.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
With the current battle against the pandemic, I find myself force to adapt to many changes and challenges as an individual as well as a therapist and this had push me out of my own comfort zone. This made me relate well to client that impacted due to the pandemic itself. In this time of pandemic, I find myself seeing client who are mostly impacted due to the pandemic and thus I believe its important to provide therapy to help support those impacted during this crucial and critical time. With the wonders of technology, am able to provide psychological support to client from the comfort and safety of each other home.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Over the years i learned a lot from client and one great thing I learned is that going to therapy does not mean you are weak or flawed. It take a lot of courage, determination and hard work to explore and move forward for client. In fact along the journey we learned to accept self even with some flaws, its ok and that is what make life worth living and we are unique and special in our own way.
I especially like to use the analogy of shattered vase which is part of Richard Tadeshi study on post trauma growth in which those individual who survived traumas and how they rebuild new identity and thrived. The broken, shattered pieces if glass etc is rebuild to something new, stronger and beautiful eg mosaic, etc. Though for some of of us might see yourself as broken vases in the process of healing and this can be liken to the art of rebuilding broken pieces by highlighting the broken pieces as broken pieces itself hold a lot of beautiful history and learning thru the art of Kintsugi, art of mending broken pieces using gold or silver epoxy which is quite similar to counselling journey ie mending or new way at how we see the broken self ie a beautiful self and our broken part highlighted and we wear it as affirmation of what we gone thru and how strong or how far we have grown. In fact, personally as a therapist I am amazed by some client who dive in and work at the roots of their issue, and work hard in their healing journey. If that is not courage, what could it be.
