My Approach to Helping

In a comfortable and non-judgmental atmosphere, we will explore your challenges, concerns, and struggles. I believe that the healing process begins with trust and a strong therapeutic relationship. I have experience providing therapy to adults, adolescents, and children. I can provide both individual and family therapy.
There are times that we need a compassionate listener in life. I can provide this as we explore life's circumstances and develop a meaningful treatment plan and work towards your therapeutic goals. I am EMDR trained and working on certification. If you are feeling stuck and talk therapy isn't helping you move forward, we can utilize the EMDR modality to target past trauma and help you move forward.
I have experience working with trauma, abuse, oppositional behavior, adolescent issues, addiction issues, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, familial issues and relationship issues.
It is never too early or too late to seek help. We can address a variety of challenges through our therapeutic work together. I look forward to providing support as you take this brave step in your journey to healing and mental health.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of therapy is to add a compassionate and caring person to your life. Therapy should add a non-judgemental support. Therapy can be helpful with any issue, no matter how big or small. Some people are in therapy for a longer duration and some for only a few months as they work on their presenting issues. Therapy should help you feel less stuck in your life. We will work to resolve problematic behavior, feelings, thoughts, and beliefs in a safe setting.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy does not mean something is "wrong" with you. It simply means that you are in need of added support at this time in your life. Research has shown that verbalizing your feelings is a good thing and can have an immediate impact on how you feel. You do not have to have a life-altering event in order to seek therapy. Therapy can help you gain a better sense of yourself and who you are.
