My Approach to Helping
I believe that the power of vulnerability is one of our greatest strengths and ultimately can provide us with a more profound sense of self, security, comfort, and compassion towards one another. Coming from a strength-based form of doing therapy and giving support to others, I work to provide my clients with a sense of validation and comfort.
As a cis male that identifies as Latinx and as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I can hold the experience of living in many diverse, cross-cultural emotional experiences that we sometimes may not even know how to begin to understand. I can provide services in Spanish and am too well-versed in the Chicano Spanglish that is just as culturally relevant to my experience and I’m sure that of others. I have worked with a range of communities and have worked in community mental health, providing intensive case management to clients with severe and persistent mental health illnesses. I am a very easygoing, open-hearted, direct, and diplomatic presence. I work diligently to build rapport with my clients.
My work as an LCSW also makes me interested in social justice work, such as working with issues of racism, systemic racism, prejudice, and socioeconomic disparity. I hope to provide an open space that is warm, validating, and safe to my clients. I believe now that knowing our hearts is our biggest weapon against low self-esteem, hate, and oppression. I hope you will join me in helping you discover your power and strength within yourself.
