Mental Health Statistics for Tallahassee 

Tallahassee has seen an increase in deaths from prescription opioids. In 2016, 82 city residents died from prescription drugs. This number was a 60% increase from the year before. By contrast, only one person in Tallahassee had an overdose death involving heroin.  

Tallahassee and the surrounding Leon County have relatively high rates of opioid prescriptions being written. In 2017, there were over 65 opioid prescriptions for every 100 residents. In 2018, Tallahassee filed lawsuits against opioid manufacturers, seeking reparations for the damage opioids have done to the city.
