People have different motivations for starting psychotherapy. Some people may be seeking to learn more about themselves while others would like to become more effective in achieving their life goals. You may be going through a life transition or seeking assistance in managing uncomfortable symptoms related to anxiety, depression, stress-overload, grief and loss, post-traumatic stress, addiction, or problems in interpersonal relationships. Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different for each person. There is no one-size-fits-all approach which is why I tailor my psychotherapy approach to meet the needs of the individual, not the situation.

More Info About My Practice

I am a licensed independent mental health practitioner and licensed alcohol and drug counselor who utilizes an integrative, trauma-informed and client-centered approach. My services include individual psychotherapy, substance abuse treatment and substance abuse evaluations. I am certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional and trained in the use of EMDR therapy in addition to having training as a yoga teacher and in restorative yoga. All of my education and training is used to assist my clients in achieving a greater sense of balance, mental health and well-being.

My Role as a Therapist

Did you know the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the primary predictor of positive outcomes in psychotherapy? It is not necessarily the therapist's educational background and credentials they hold, the theories they choose to utilize, or even the number of hours they've logged that generate the best outcome, but rather the quality of the relationship that has the biggest impact. As your therapist, one of the most important jobs I have is to create a therapeutic environment that facilitates positive change and growth, for you. An essential part of creating that environment includes establishing a relationship built on trust, respect, acceptance, empathy and collaboration. I believe you will experience me as non-judgmental, genuinely engaged and authentic. Understanding your experience and perspective is always my first priority.
