My priority is providing a confidential and compassionate place to address issues that you feel are holding you back from experiencing life the way you'd like. I work with individuals, couples, and families to resolve and overcome issues including relationship conflict, anger management, overeating, low self-esteem, stress management, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and more. I focus on emotion and patterns of behaviors and interactions to help you achieve your unique goals and improve your overall quality of life!
I specialize in relationship issues including constant conflict, infidelity, lack of trust, establishing boundaries, emotional traumas, loss of connection and more. I work from the Emotionally Focused Therapy approach, which seeks to increase accessibility and responsiveness between partners in order to establish security, comfort, care, and connection within the relationship.
I also specialize in overeating and binge eating issues. Compulsive overeating and binge eating are becoming even more prevalent and can lead to issues including excessive guilt and shame, physical discomfort and limitations, poor quality of sleep, isolation, relationship distress, and a loss of activities once enjoyed. Research is now pointing out that overeating is a problem that occurs between the ears- that is, in our brains. We use food and eating as a way to cope with any number of issues including depression, anxiety and stress, anger, conflict in relationships, etc. My approach with clients includes exploring emotional dysregulation, boundaries, relationship with food, body image, coping skills, and more in order to manage overeating and maintain a healthy mental and physical lifestyle.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
Therapy can be so helpful in many different ways. One way therapy is helpful is by offering an emotionally safe and confidential place to talk about difficult issues you are experiencing. The therapist-client relationship should be empathetic, supportive, and encouraging. It should also be challenging in terms of the therapist guiding the client outside of their comfort zones just enough to promote personal growth and change, using compassion and healing nuturing along that journey.
Another way therapy can be helpful is by teaching how to better recognize, identify, and effectively manage all of your different emotional experiences. We experience such a large spectrum of emotions...some of them pleasant and joyful to experience, and others excruciatingly painful, fearful, or anxiety provoking. When we feel like our emotions have more control over us than we have over them, this can lead to many different issues and negative events.

My role as a therapist is to create a safe alliance with my client, show genuine curiosity about my clients' experiences and processes, and collaborate and guide my clients through experiencing and organizing their emotional experiences and behavioral reactions. I want to empower my clients to recognize and implement change in their lives, while offering compassion, empathy, and support along the way.

I work from an emotionally-focused approach, while also incorporating attachment and behavioral pattern perspectives. My goal is to help clients better identify problematic patterns of behaviors, identify and regulate emotions, and implement coping skills and strategies in order to create new patterns of behavior and interactions. Whether you're struggling with depression, anxiety, eating issues, addiction, anger management,or other emotional or behavioral issues, learning how to sit with uncomfortable emotions and learning how to respond differently to them is a key piece in overcoming issues holding you back from experiencing your best life possible.
