My Approach to Helping
We all deserve to feel our best. When we do not, it is because there are interferences. Dr. Tempinski has more than 25 years experience working with adults to appreciate and resolve these interferences through individual psychotherapy. Dr. Tempinski specializes in uncovering, understanding, and treating the causes of troubling emotional difficulties. It is important to recognize that symptoms are often secondary to underlying turmoil, conflict, and/or unresolved feelings. Our minds and emotions are so complex that it can be helpful to obtain an objective perspective from a professional who is trained to appreciate the complicated ways in which our minds work. The process of therapy is a team effort that aims to understand and appreciate the dynamics underlying the client's feelings and behavior. When this is done skillfully in the context of a relationship wherein the client feels warmly understood, dramatic change is possible.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
While I realize that many psychologists are drawn toward treating a specific problem and that potential clients then find comfort in feeling they have increased their chance of a successful experience by finding someone expert in their specific problems, what especially interests me is the process or art of psychotherapy. What I find intriguing is the challenge and quest to understand and appreciate the individual's specific struggles, their complicated and multiple causes, the difficult emotions, attempts to help people master these, and the reward of witnessing people freeing themselves of their struggles. This process is equally effective as well as intriguing for me, independent of the nature of one's struggles.
