More Info About My Practice
I have many years of experience facilitating group psychotherapy for personal growth and development. Group size is limited to six participants, fixed for a duration of twelve weeks meeting once a week for three hours. These group sessions are based on Irvin Yaloms model of Existential Group Psychotherapy. This provides a very unique learning environment, and an opportunity for participants to develop an acute awareness of self and others. Group therapy addresses: self-esteem issues communication skill development boundary awareness sexuality issues identity exploration management of stress and fears deep-rooted anxiety development of inter and intra-personal awareness emotional intelligence Relationship Specialist Relationship dynamics are of primary interest to me. Couples Therapy is often deep, intense, insightful and enlightening. I believe ongoing relationship development never ceases, however, most couples therapy is not prolonged by long term weekly commitments. Couples therapy is inclined to parallel the momentum of todays lifestyle with "a lot of ground covered in a short period of time". Having said that, underlying, often unstated issues are usually uncovered, discussed and resolved in this time frame. In addition, I balance couples therapy with individual therapy for both partners in between couples sessions which helps accelerate the therapeutic process. Psychotherapy Psychotherapy is a journey into "self" that uncovers and unravels the old patterns of interactions creating opportunities for new ways of being. I am primarily an Existential Therapist, eclectic and diverse in both education and experience. I tailor sessions to meet the needs of the clients, not the other way round. I generally work in the ï¾Âœhere and now? on the issues presented. However, reflection back to the past in order to understand unconscious patterns of interactions with others often helps develop a deeper awareness of "self". My psychotherapy involves the integration of many therapeutic modalities which I have studied and taught in several educational institutes in Sydney.
