My Approach to Helping
I use a direct, yet empathetic and compassionate approach to therapy. I believe in client-therapist collaboration, meaning you have the floor, but I will also offer suggestions, different ways of thinking, challenge your beliefs in a safe environment, and motivate you to become who you want to be. Your trust and confidence in me is my ultimate concern; therefore I offer a free phone consultation to determine if I will be a good fit for you.
I have been practicing therapy many years in a variety of settings. Connecting the patient's mind-body symptoms, thus reducing physical pain and discomfort is my major focus of therapy. Some specialty areas include working with adults experiencing anxiety and/or anxiety/panic attacks, depression or other mood changes, eating disorders, health or medical issues including chronic pain, obesity, and relationship difficulties.

Starting the search for a therapist is oftentimes more difficult than the therapy, itself. Be sure you find someone who you can trust, can talk to, and especially someone who listens and understands your concerns.

More Info About My Practice
At this time, I do not accept insurance. I do, however, provide you with a super bill at the end of the month outlining number of session, amount paid, etc if you wish to submit to your insurance company. There is no guarantee of their reimbursement.
I do accept PayPal, cash and check.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

The most important piece of information I need to know about you is that you are motivated to change, even if it's a "2" on a"1-10" scale of motivation. You have completed a lot of work and research trying to either determine who will be the best therapist for you, how you will financially support your growth, and finding time to dedicate to your well being, so some level of motivation is certainly there. During our consultation on the phone or email, I will ask a couple of questions about you such as your major focal area for therapy and perhaps some of your goals for therapy. That\'s it. You may ask me all the questions you would like to, but I will save most of the questions for our first session. The first session is more like an intake; not a lot of therapy- if any. This is an extremely important meeting for us; you are able to judge how you feel talking with me and discussing your personal, private matters while I ask you a lot of questions to help me determine the best way to help you based on your needs and goals.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

There are so many different ideas on how long therapy should last. As my client, therapy usually lasts between 8-50 sessions. There is no guarantee on how long it will last for you. Every 6 sessions or so, I aim to reevaluate how therapy is going with you and help us determine if you would like to keep coming to therapy or would like to start the termination process. Some tips for determining when to start the termination process are when you are feeling more emotionally healthy, are making better decisions, and have a few tools to use should you start to fall back into old behaviors. If at any time you are feeling our fit isn\'t what is right for you, would like to terminate therapy, or would like to continue coming longer than we had anticipated, please feel free to discuss this with me. I am of the mindset that we both have important decision making in your length of therapy; I offer my professional opinion based on our sessions and your goals, while you are able to determine how much healthier you feel. Ideally, therapy is the same time and day, weekly. This is to ensure the most consistency for you. However, I realize this is not always possible; therefore, there are options of meeting weekly, every other week, monthly, or per our mutual agreement.
