My Approach to Helping
"The purpose of psychotherapy is to set people free" (Rollo May, 1981). Many of us struggle with issues of anxiety and depression. We feel overwhelmed and anxious by our "to do" lists. These feelings often lead to feeling disconnected from ourselves, and we become lost. I believe that often anxiety and depression are symptoms of a deeper problem: the lack of understanding of who we are and what is meaningful to us in our lives. If we have knowledge about what is meaningful to us, then we are free to define happiness and take concrete steps to achieving it.

I work to resolve the underlying problems that lead to depression and anxiety, not simply managing dis-ease states. My view is holistic - I work to identify strengths in mental, emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual realms to help you reach your true potential in all areas of your life.

With the collaboration of my supervisor, I work with individuals, families and couples on mental health and relationship issues, as well as provide career counseling. I believe in the potential for growth is inherent in the human condition. By working together, we can find solutions that will set you free.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Anxiety and depression are the two most common "problems" people come in with. I believe that most anxiety and depression are really just symptoms. These emotions are our body's way of telling us there is something we are feeling stuck about. Once we find and change the roles, habits, thought patterns, communication problems, etc that are keeping you stuck, the "symptoms" of anxiety and depression usually go away.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is collaborate with my clients to clarify problems and brainstorm new solutions. I am here to create the opportunity for my clients to explore the issues they bring in a safe, positive environment. I believe we all have the potential for growth and development and we are constantly learning and changing all the time. We do have the potential to be the people we have always wanted to be.
