Description

Postpartum Communication & Emotional Growing Pains: A Virtual Class for Couples Wednesday, April 23rd, 9-11 am EST, $90.

Becoming parents or adding another child to the mix can quietly strain even the strongest relationships. The sleep deprivation, the shifting roles, the things that go unsaid. This class gives couples practical tools and honest conversation to navigate postpartum life together, before resentment builds or connection fades.

I'm excited to share that the fee for this class now includes a 30-minute follow-up private call (to be used within 6 months of attending the class).

"My partner and I participated in two of Emily's sessions on preparing for postpartum life about a month before our baby was born. We're a queer couple (a trans man and a cis-woman), and it can be challenging to find therapists and birthworkers who are able to talk about sex, gender, bodies, and birth using language and framing that affirms our experiences. Emily did a fantastic job. She smoothly navigates what can be complicated matters with ease, allowing us to fully engage in the conversations! Rather than a strict program, the sessions themselves provided valuable time and space to reflect on our expectations for postpartum life, guided by our needs and those of the other participants. Throughout, Emily provided support, reassurance of our capacities, and practical advice based on her years of experience as a parent and a therapist!"

Some topics we address: -division of labor -coping with the mental load and lack of sleep -understanding your risk of developing postpartum depression (PPD), postpartum anxiety (PPA), and other mood conditions, birth and feeding related trauma -infant mental health and attachment needs -boundaries and asking for help from family -tools for supporting your partner's mental health while also clearly communicating and prioritizing your own needs -proactive trauma-informed perspective for long-term meaningful life experiences together.

Read more about this class, my perspective, and services on my website. Thank you for sharing with anyone who may benefit! This is an exceptionally difficult time to be bringing a baby into this world, and I'm here to offer a genuinely supportive, inclusive, and affirming space to give proactive parents a strong boost for their journey. Couples who are not expecting, but want more ideas of what to expect; single expecting or new moms with a close loved one; couples who are within six months of postpartum, those who have already had children previously, as well as first-time parents-- there will be useful takeaways for all scenarios! Private support available for more specific needs, i.e., multiracial and multicultural families, those seeking to raise anti-racist, kind kids in a peaceful household, interfaith, intergenerational family needs, blended, LGBT, neurodiverse, and families coping with trauma and loss (while raising children).
