My Approach to Helping
I am passionate about helping individuals develop positive views of themselves. I work with individuals who struggle with low self-esteem, high/unrealistic expectations, comparison, self-criticism, and who have trouble reassuring and validating themselves. Further, in order to fully understand emotions and perceptions, I also explore with individuals how childhood trauma has affected their ability to maintain positive relationships with others and themselves. My goal is to help you become more secure in yourself and your relationship. I want to help you learn to understand, accept, and love yourself on an individual basis and within your relationships.
With my experience in emotionally focused couples therapy, I am able to assist couples in better understanding and communicating with one another. Couples without the proper skills often struggle to effectively communicate and understand how even their own emotional triggers from childhood can affect how they react to their partner. We explore underlying emotions together and how to best communicate them to your partner so you can feel heard and connected. During our sessions, we identify and change negative cycle patterns that are interfering with the relationship, including challenging expectations and beliefs they hold about each other.
