My Approach to Helping
I have been in private practice for over 10 years, helping couples and individuals with their relationship conflicts, psychiatric challenges and their desires for improved communication and intimacy. My therapeutic approach is derived from a combination of a cognitive-behavioral and systemic techniques. Each interaction is addressed in relation to habitual patterns that may have become stuck or conflictual and a systemic therapist makes interventions at helping the client(s) consciously make healthier choices to create more intimacy or functionality in these relationships.
I am a collaborative therapist who works with clients’ strengths to explore the behaviors, thoughts, communication patterns, and interactional patterns that are associated with the problems presented. After a thorough initial assessment, I work with clients to clarify goals, identify resolutions to the presenting issues, followed by a wide array of interventions, and home assignments to help achieve these goals.
I understand that people find it at times challenging or embarrassing to discuss their sexual lives with anyone and take pride in providing a judgment-free environment with compassion, empathy, and openness so that clients feel comfortable. It is important to me to recognize the diversity of each person and adapts her therapeutic techniques to the unique needs of each client. My ultimate goal for each client in therapy is to be provided with tools and specific techniques to master and utilize during and after completing their work in therapy.
