My Approach to Helping

I believe we are all seeking to have a light heart, a resilient mind, the ability to navigate the lows in life and be more present for the highs. I will meet you where you are and draw from my knowledge and training to help you find more of yourself and what you want more of in your life. We will incorporate your life story, what has worked and what has not, and grow those parts of you that will allow you to thrive. Whether facing depression, a difficult breakup, debilitating anxiety, career moves, transitioning into retirement, obstacles in your relationships, or any number of challenges, I look forward to facilitating a path towards relief and living fully. I always believe reaching out for help not only takes courage, but that it can be the action that can accelerate your growth toward well-being. Well-being emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

I have over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. I have taught college level courses in the areas of psychology, human relations, and student success. I have trained for 10 years in Family Systems Bowen Theory. I have certifications in Expressive Arts, Yoga therapy, Somatic body work, SoulCoaching, SoulCollage, Nature Therapy, and administering many personality and strengths based assessments. I readily draw from DBT, Adlerian psychology, Humanistic Psychology, Mindfulness, Integrative Nutrition, and Expressive Arts in my process of working with each unique client. I thrive on finding a best fit for each client and recognize that “talk therapy” may be a best fit for some while combining other practices can be a best fit for others.

I believe each of us is somewhere on the path of the hero’s journey. My goal is to awaken the parts of you that will support you wherever you are on the path, meet you in crisis and celebration, and assist you in restoring balance in your life. I look forward to supporting you.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Whether you have engaged in therapy before, or not, I can't encourage you enough to give therapy a try. There is nothing like being in the presence of a therapist whose sole purpose is to understand you in the deepest way, to ask those questions whose answers truly lie deep within each of us, and to support you to stick with even small changes in thinking, acting and being, that have the potential to redirect your life in ways you could not imagine. It is a privilege, as therapist, to be a part of this process.
