My Approach to Helping
Sometimes we feel so overwhelmed in life, we cope by becoming detached and withdrawn from the people and things in our lives that we care about. We begin to feel unlovable and like we aren't good enough. Sometimes this manifests as anxiety and a struggle to feel settled. Other times it feels more like depression and an overwhelming sense of loneliness. My goal is to create a safe place where you can get to know and feel comfortable with yourself. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the basis for success and you deserve a space where you can feel accepted and heard. From there, skills can be learned that can put you on the path to living the life you want.

How Psychotherapy Can Help
I think sometimes we feel like therapy is only for "real" or serious problems. We tell ourselves we should just be able to "handle it" or "get over it." We think that therapy is a luxury or indulgent. Unfortunately, that is the type of thinking that turns something small into something big and unmanageable that disrupts our life. Therapy is an investment in your health so that if things do get more difficult, which in life they tend to, you are better able to handle it.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Therapy can be terrifying. It's a really big deal when you let someone in and share things about yourself you might not like. Finding someone you are comfortable with is essential for your healing and growth. Research shows that regardless of other methods used, a strong therapeutic relationship is often the biggest predictor of success. I work to create an environment where you can laugh and cry and tell me about that thought you think is crazy without fear of being judged.
