My Approach to Helping
Hello, my name is Ann, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California. I received my master’s in psychology from Brandman University in 2017. Although I am recently licensed, I have been working in the mental health field as a certified substance abuse counselor and a clinical social worker for many years.
I have worked in numerous mental health settings, including a psychiatric hospital, a crisis house, multiple residential and outpatient programs for addiction, as well as a methadone clinic and a homeless shelter. I am well versed in addressing a wide array of the types of problems that bring people to seek therapy, including but not limited to addictions, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief, pain management, life transitions, and trauma.
I enjoy helping individuals and families struggling with personal issues varying from mental health and addiction to relationship or family problems, stress, bereavement, emotional pain, abuse and more.
My work is dedicated to helping others improve their quality of life by guiding them on the road to self-awareness, acceptance, and recovery. I like to focus on resolving specific issues, gaining confidence, and decreasing suffering, thus leading to a healthy, happy, and more productive and enjoyable life.
I have an exceptional background and I am passionate about recovery. I have devoted my life to helping others heal and grow while encouraging you to live your best life.
I believe in a therapeutic approach that is tailored to the specific needs, circumstances, and life challenges of each individual or family. I do not believe in cookie cutter therapy or a one-size-fits-all approach. We are all unique individuals, and I like to help each client shine their own light. I believe in a person-centered approach grounded in acceptance and support. My style is eclectic and integrative, including the best of CBT, Solution-Focused, Family Systems, and Psychodynamic therapies.
I look forward to working with you and assisting you on your journey to a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life.
