My Approach to Helping
I obtained a Master of Science in Counseling with specialization in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix in 2012 and became licensed in July 2018. I have experience with treating various client populations, including children, adolescents, adults, families, and military populations. I have experience providing services to youth in school-based (elementary, middle, and high school) and office settings. I especially have a strong desire to work with youth because I want to help give them a voice to express themselves, manage life’s challenges, and fulfill their potential. I have learned the value and importance of collaborating with the youth’s family and support system to further strengthen resources to meet the youth's and family’s needs. I particularly have a specialized interest in working with youth and adults in the treatment of anxiety and depression, and related conditions. I have assisted clients in addressing a wide range of issues including anxiety, poor academic performance, attention-deficit hyperactivity, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviors, anger, disruptive behaviors, bullying, peer relationship issues, screen dependence, substance use, sexuality and gender identity issues, trauma from physical sexual abuse, grief, and family issues. I have experience with various treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, person-centered, narrative, strengths-based, art therapy, play therapy, and family systems. I strive to help a client feel a sense of empowerment and acceptance during the therapeutic process to put their best self forward. My personal and professional philosophy is the same - “Do everything out of love.”
