I use a direct, non-prescription, empathetic and compassionate approach to therapy. I believe in client-therapist collaboration, meaning you have the floor, but I will also offer suggestions, different ways of thinking, challenge your beliefs in a safe environment, and motivate you to become who you want to be. Your trust and confidence in me is my ultimate concern; therefore I offer a free phone consultation to determine if I will be a good fit for you.
I use an integrative approach, and look at your life through a holistic lens, meaning I pay attention to every aspect (mental, physical, interpersonal, medical, nutritional) to help create a better understanding of why you are who you are. I do not prescribe medications, though I do work with people who are currently taking psych meds with the goal of reducing or removing meds from their healing journey.
I have been practicing therapy many years in a variety of settings. Connecting the patient's mind-body symptoms, thus reducing physical pain and discomfort is my major focus of therapy. Some specialty areas include working with adults experiencing anxiety and/or anxiety/panic attacks, depression or other mood changes, eating disorders, health or medical issues including chronic pain, obesity, and relationship difficulties.

Starting the search for a therapist is oftentimes more difficult than the therapy, itself. Be sure you find someone who you can trust, can talk to, and especially someone who listens and understands your concerns.

What Makes up a Problem?

Everything in your life makes you who you are, whether you intend on it influencing you or not. We can't always control what we hear or see, but we can certainly control what we do. Each person I meet with is seen from a holistic lens where I take a look at all areas of your life you are willing to share with me over time, which helps me to understand how you ended up who you are today.

Groups I Work With

As a psychologist, I am interested in looking at all of your symptoms, your past, your current, and your future goals to address what is going on in your life, currently, that has you seeking treatment. Being able to understand the ROOT of why you are experiencing your current symptoms is my goal in therapy, not to just simply find solutions to your symptoms, but actually figure out what their meanings are. This is a holistic perspective meaning I don't look at just one symptom or difficulty; I look at every aspect of your life and bring them all together to make sense of how you're operating in the world, today. I do not prescribe medications, though I do understand there is a time and place for them. As a psychologist, I try to help people understand the root of their symptoms, thus focusing on how to heal you and move forward without meds or the unwanted thoughts, feelings or behaviors.
A majority of my clientele are people with chronic pain, mood disorders, relationship distress/concerns, anxiety/panic attacks and obesity/nutrition issues. If warranted, I also pay close attention to what your diet is which drastically effects one's mental health and wellness.
I also work with couples who wish to continue their relationship and are eager to work on issues that have blocked their ability to move forward as couples.
Only a small percentage of clients get seen weekly, for many years at a time. Additionally, most clients that come to me are doing pretty decently in the world, they just have a few things here and there that are not allowing for them to live a completely mentally healthy life.
