Description
EVERY SATURDAY at 9 am Eastern since August 8th, 2020, I have hosted a FREE weekly rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) demonstration on Zoom open to the public. I call this the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Conversation Hour. During this hour, I discuss a problem of daily living with a volunteer. I show them how to apply REBT core ideas and strategies to their situation. This weekly demonstration is not a role-play but an educational discussion about a genuine difficulty or adversity the volunteer wishes to discuss. At the end of the conversation, I take questions from the Zoom audience. Dr. Ellis, who formally trained me, originated Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and helped launch the cognitive-behavioral therapy movement in psychotherapy. REBT has distinct advantages over subsequent CBT therapies. Observing the Zoom demonstration is a great way to see how this problem-focused approach to emotional and behavioral problems is applied to a broad range of issues and can help individuals live happier, more fulfilling lives. This weekly demonstration and Q&A period is an excellent way for prospective patients, therapists, and students to learn the core ideas and strategies of REBT. If you are a patient of mine, watching the demonstrations will improve the speed and depth of the therapeutic changes you achieve. Should you be unable to afford REBT therapy, reading an REBT self-help book, using the free educational resources on my website, and watching the demonstrations will help you learn to do self-therapy. When you observe others discuss their problems and then find a solution using the ideas and strategies of REBT, you often learn something you can use with your problems. Please join us for this popular weekly event that people worldwide have found interesting, educational, and personally helpful.
