Description

Do ever wish you could find language to help a client be more effective in maintaining or improving relationships? Nonviolent Communication is a framework and approach that is based first and foremost in empathy. Authenticity is another vital component, and being authentic is not always what is superficially considered as empathic, and yet empathy must remain as the guideline. Nonviolent communication (NVC) focuses on how to speak, listen, and remain open for what is real and helpful in relationships and in daily exchanges, and ultimately in understanding oneself. NVC was founded by the late psychologist Marshall Rosenberg, and is practiced and studied now all over the world. There is room in NVC for assertiveness as well as for gentle sharing. It uses a fundamental understanding that makes relationships stronger and more enjoyable. I find the framework and approach extremely useful as a therapist working with couples, or with individuals when we are focusing on communication. To find out more, join me for this free, interactive webinar, Nonviolent Communication: Communication That Enhances Life. It takes place this Saturday October 21st from 10am to 11:30am ET. I promise it will be engaging, enjoyable, and informative. The principles I will be presenting are the foundation of NVC, and are applicable to therapy / coaching work as well as our personal, family, and work lives--anywhere there is a relationship or interaction between two or more people. This talk will not be exclusively focused on therapy or coaching work, but I will likely do a presentation on that specific topic in the not very distant future. This talk will touch on most of the primary aspects of NVC. We will also have time for interaction and sharing on this lively topic during the latter part of the meeting. Take a look at further description (and a short video) by clicking above, and register if you think you can make it. Come on your own, or invite a fellow practitioner or friend and discuss the concepts with them, afterwards. I look forward to seeing you there! And if you previously attended last year, this could be a good review to get back up to speed. Note: I am planning monthly online practice meetings starting November 11th. In each meeting we will engage in questions and situations brought in by attendees so as to practice application of Nonviolent Communication to real-life situations that attendees bring in, or if no one has a topic they want to bring in I will provide example scenarios to discuss. This October 7th webinar is a good chance to get a preview of what it is all about!

I have been teaching healing and energy practice using multiple modalities since 1972, including: Zen meditation, Tai Chi Chuan, and psychotherapy practice and coaching. All of these emphasize deep connection with oneself and others, and the ability to express that connection in daily life. My study of Zen, with serious-minded and compassionate teachers, started in 1972. In addition to my psychotherapy training, I use the insights of Eastern wisdom as part of therapy to present opportunities for finding meaning in life that transcends the limitations of one's personal history.
