Description
Experiential intro to power-conscious supervision, exploring frameworks, practices, and relational awareness for intentional supervision. Join us on October 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM (MDT) for a free, one-hour intro to Power-Conscious Supervision! We'll dive into the core competencies of a power-conscious supervisor, like self-reflexivity, relational awareness, ethical role clarity, contextual awareness, and power literacy. Through a combination of framework introduction, reflection, and embodied practice, we'll explore how power shows up in the supervisory relationship and introduce the core competencies. You'll have opportunities to notice your own responses to power and authority, consider how identity and relational history shape supervision, and begin exploring how to use supervisory power with greater fluency, intention, transparency, and accountability. You'll also get a quick overview of The Power-Conscious Supervisor, a full-day program focused on building foundational skills. In that program, we'll explore how things like identity, attachment, history with authority, systemic influences, clinical experience, and power differences shape the supervisory relationship. Participants will learn how supervisors can hold complexity, track nuance, stay relational across difference, and use their authority with transparency and accountability. This day-long program will be offered three times beginning January 2027. We're seeking approval to offer The Power Conscious Supervisor for continuing education credit through NBCC. Stay tuned! There's time for Q&A throughout, and if you can't make it live, register anyway to get the recording. Live attendees will get a coupon code for a discount at the end! Learn about the Facilitators: Dr. Amanda Aguilera is a psychotherapist, speaker, author, and power-conscious guide with 17 years of experience supporting individuals, relationships, and organizations. As the Lineage Holder of the Right Use of Power, she is committed to helping people understand and engage power in ways that foster accountability, agency, connection, and right relationship. Dr. Amanda believes that power does not have to divide or control us; it can also connect us. Her approach invites helping professionals to explore how identity, attachment, history, authority, systemic influences, and personal experience shape their relationships and responsibilities. She is especially interested in helping people hold complexity, recognize their own emotional responses and shadow, relate across difference, and use power with greater transparency and care. She is the author of Shaping Power for Good: Wayfinding to Right Relationship and the founder of Sacred Wayfinding, which offers rituals of transition and soul-level guidance through living and dying. Kyla Jones is a counselor educator, clinical supervisor, and somatic therapist whose work is grounded in relational, embodied, and power-conscious approaches to supervision. Drawing from her experience in clinical leadership, counselor education, supervision-of-supervision, and clinician development, she supports counselors and supervisors in exploring how identity, power, nervous system responses, attachment, and relational dynamics shape clinical and supervisory relationships. Her approach emphasizes transparency, curiosity, complexity, and the intentional use of self, with particular attention to recognizing relational patterns, working across difference, and remaining grounded through discomfort, rupture, and repair. Grounded in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally responsive practice, Kyla views supervision as a collaborative developmental process that asks supervisors to hold the responsibility and authority of their role while actively fostering supervisees' agency, autonomy, clinical judgment, and emerging professional identities.
