My Approach to Helping

I help highly productive professionals and couples feel less anxious and self-critical about themselves while continuing to strive for excellence in both their careers and personal lives. My clients are very hard working, have a long track record of success, and care deeply about their work, friends, and family. Even so, life can be challenging.

Many clients had a bad day and are still emotionally beating themselves up for minor mistakes. They constantly replay what they should have done differently sometimes for days and weeks at a time. They become frustrated they cannot let go of this self-criticalness and even have thoughts they are not good enough or are a fraud. They worry people are disappointed in their work and even with them personally. They are constantly exhausted by all the negative thoughts they have while still trying to get everything done. Friends and family may try to help but no one really understands. They are running on empty and deep down they are exhausted.

Feeling engaged in your life, striving for excellence in your work, feeling loved and supported, and feeling anxious free and less self-critical is within your reach.

I work with my clients to first understand what drives them to achieve, and that there is hope. Next, I work collaboratively realizing solutions to maintaining their high performance while replacing that self-critical voice that criticizes their work into one that becomes supportive. I help my clients master a set of tools that they can use to help reduce the self-criticalness and anxiety they feel and lead to a calmer more focused life.

If you want to keep that optimum performance in your life and banish that self-critical voice you hear, I'd love to help you get there. Before moving into private practice full time, I spent over a decade as a tenured professor mentoring and supervising students in the most current counseling approaches and theories. During that time, much of my research focused on perfectionism, anxiety, and stress management. I am excited to bring what I have learned and taught directly to you.

More Info About My Practice

I utilize empirically validated approaches to treating anxiety disorders such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). While I cannot guarantee individual results, research has demonstrated many clients feel significant relief after 7-10 sessions.

I also use an evidenced-based approach that uses real-time input during counseling sessions called Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT). What this means is we track your progress during every session to make sure you are getting the results needed. By tracking our progress, we are able to make changes and adjustments more quickly so you get better faster. Research has consistently shown that clients and counselors who use FIT are 2.5 times more likely to benefit from counseling.

Taking the plunge to schedule that first session can be scary. I have the experience, expertise, and knowledge to help you. How fulfilling would your life be if you could conquer anxiety and stress again?

You are worth giving it a try. You don’t have to suffer.
