My Approach to Helping
Do you want to let go of unwanted emotional baggage so you can live your best life? Many clients find relief and get their joy back with an average of 2 to 5 sessions of Accelerated Resolution Therapy. There are reasons many people say it seems "too good to be true!" (See below for the fancy, technical explanation of A.R.T.)
Counseling isn't just for those who are struggling with mental illness. “Talk therapy” or counseling provides a safe, non-judgmental place to talk about your relationships, circumstances and experiences, to explore and expand your options, and to develop better skills to manage various life challenges. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to create change - or learn how to best respond to change - in their lives and their relationships.
My approach is client-centered, future-oriented, and pragmatic; I partner with you to identify your needs and pursue your goals with action and optimism! I am trained in using Accelerated Resolution Therapy, a short-term, trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy combining bilateral eye-movements with working memory imaging and aspects of Gestalt, psychodynamic and other therapies. A.R.T. has been shown to provide relief from distress, depression and anxiety. Additionally, I emphasize Cognitive Behavior Therapy strategies and tools, psycho-education and self-care habits to help clients learn how to best help themselves. In addition to counseling, I have extensive training and experience working with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disorders.
