My Approach to Helping

At Cognizant Mental Health, we believe that mental health and well-being are integral and essential parts of living a healthy, fulfilling, and satisfying life. Our core values are created with the client in mind and provide a person-centered approach. Quality mental health care does not attempt to inherently change the individual. Rather, therapy is aimed at unlocking the client’s true potential, allowing them to be the unique person they are. As such, our passion and expertise are in helping clients reach their full potential by accompanying them on a journey of self-exploration.

Our services are designed to help you gain a stronger sense of self, enhance your emotional life, and develop more intimate and gratifying relationships to successfully pursue your life goals with a new perspective and practical tools.

We are committed to providing the highest quality of care by using evidence-based practices that are up to date with the latest therapeutic research and treatment models. Our approach is personalized and collaborative. We take pride in being compassionate, genuine, caring, honest, and direct with every client.

Cognizant Mental Health is committed to treating the whole person, not just a diagnosis. We believe in using a collaborative approach to care, one in which patients are educated about their mental health and play an active role in shaping their treatment plan.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Talk therapy has been proven to be helpful for a wide variety of people with various psychological diagnoses. The kinds of individuals and problems that can be helped by therapy include but are not limited to grief, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, chronic pain, interpersonal relationship conflict, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. One?s motivation to understand themselves and openness to the process is important for each client who strives to be helped by therapy. Also of crucial importance is the therapist?s ability to be empathetic, consistent, and trustworthy. Positive results can be expected when these client and therapist characteristics are achieved in a therapeutic relationship.
