My Approach to Helping
As someone who has also gone through the therapeutic journey, I understand the process of healing, relief, and change. Therapy is an opportunity to shine a light on blindspots that may be hurting our ability to understand ourselves, identify and make progress toward goals, connect with others, and overall, enjoy life. This journey takes work, risk, courage, and compassion. Although the work may, at times, seem daunting, the results are especially worth it. What makes me excited about being a therapist is that I have the privilege to witness change, growth, and healing.
I take an integrative approach as I believe therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. I have experience working with various models including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IFS (Internal Family SystemsParts), and SFBT (Solution-Focused Brief Therapy). I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and extensively trained in EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy).
I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Although working with various populations requires differing approaches, I see many of the same presenting issues whether I'm working with individuals or with relationships: communication issues, betrayal, trauma (intergenerational, sexual, emotional, psychological, and physical), anxiety, depression, and unhealthy ways of coping. It is important that my clients collaborate with me in finding the best solutions in their therapeutic process.
