My Approach to Helping
When treating individuals, couples, groups, or families, I often start by looking at the different contexts this person's life exists in. I look at their cultural background, race, sexuality, religion, social class, gender, as well as their age. These can all contribute to a person's current life experience. I also look at the types of systems and communities an individual is a part of. Educational institutions, families of origin, as well as the workplace are all factors in a person's current state of well-being. I work with people in a way that brings out their authentic self, the self that wants to be happy and deal with life transitions, emotions, and challenges in a more productive way. I believe everyone is capable of living a more fulfilling life, and I do my best in therapy to bring out strengths and resources in every person, as well as provide acceptance and understanding across every relationship.
