Minnetonka is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota. In 1851, local Indian tribes signed an agreement allowing white settlers to live in the area. Minnetonka was incorporated as a city in 1968. 

Minnetonka has 52,400 inhabitants. The population increased by 5% from 2010 to 2016. In 2017, Money magazine ranked Minnetonka as the 85th best place to live in America.  

Ten percent of Minnetonka residents are foreign-born. The city is 87% white, 4% Asian, 4% black, and 2% Hispanic. Twelve percent of people in Minnetonka speak a foreign language at home. Minnetonka is home to 1,000 Spanish speakers and 800 Russian speakers.
