Contribution to Psychology
Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) was developed by Vazquez as a therapeutic technique designed to reduce psychological and physical distress. This non-invasive, non-drug approach is different than traditional light therapy as it combines psychotherapy and visual stimulation to achieve maximum results in minimal time. ETT relies on a strong alliance between the client and therapist, as this is the catalyst for instructional guidance throughout the process. As the observer and the facilitator, the therapist can recognize emotional responses and influence proper regulation through verbal cues that ultimately lead to behavior and emotional transformation. By stimulating the brain with lights and colors, the neural impulses that affect the nervous system and brain can be reshaped. The therapist determines what images are presented to the client to target the recovery.

Light stimulation works because it directly affects the biochemical mechanism in our bodies, which determine one's emotional responses. By controlling the wavelength of the light stimulation, the therapist can control the emotional response. This allows for rapid relief from negative emotions. Many people who undergo ETT are astounded that an emotion or experience can be transformed so quickly merely by looking at light or color. There is a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating that ETT actually changes the brain functioning in clients who undergo the treatment.

ETT is currently used for various psychological problems, including trauma, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior, depression, ADHD, seasonal affective disorder, phobias, PTSD, addiction, and sleep problems. Additionally, the fact that ETT can reduce and alleviate symptoms of stress that result in pain make it an effective therapy for physical injuries and illnesses as well. ETT has also been used to address marital problems and other interpersonal problems with accuracy and success.
