My job as a therapist is to facilitate the process of healing and change using evidence-based treatments and a humanizing stance. I am fully committed to meeting the individual needs of my clients and I make every effort to personally tailor the process. I am grateful each day to play a role in the facilitation of healing and transformation. I am truly fulfilled by my work because I see the positive impact it makes on a person's life.
I work with clients across Washington state and the greater Seattle area, offering individual therapy using insight-oriented, and mindfulness-based approaches as well as EMDR. I meet with clients using an online or telehealth platform. My focus is on helping adult men facing depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions; working with them to build the self-awareness and tools needed to shift old patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve them. I help my clients to slow down, look inward, and meet life more skillfully. When trauma or emotional overwhelm occurs, the nervous system can get "stuck" in the experience. I am trained in EMDR, a technique that works to supporting and strengthen a client’s own nervous system's capacity to process difficult events, allowing that stuck experience to move and resolve. Sessions run about 55 minutes, with our first few focused on clarifying your goals. I know taking that first step isn't easy. If you'd like to explore whether we're a good fit, reach out to schedule a free 20-minute consultation - I'll answer your questions and we can talk through what you're looking for. I look forward to meeting you.
**ACCEPTING NEW IN-PERSON AND TELEHEALTH CLIENTS** Through 25+ years of experience, I have discovered a particular passion for supporting clients in healing from abuse and other traumas, as well as in addressing the impacts of challenging or complex relationships, including those impacted by narcissistic dynamics. I also find it deeply meaningful to help clients work through family-of-origin and attachment issues; liberate from anxiety, phobias, panic, or OCD; heal from or repair relational issues; develop effective boundaries; transform self-esteem, grow to find joy, purpose, and fulfillment; or move in the direction of a values-driven life. I offer a compassionate understanding of who you are, how you show up in your surroundings, and how you experience people, events, and the world around you. I am nurturing while also able to challenge long-held beliefs and patterns that may be keeping you stuck or holding you back form the life you want to life. Building on a strengths-based approach, I help clients identify and more fully develop the resilience and skills within them. From that foundation, I utilize various evidence-based therapy modalities to help clients heal, find wellness, and flourish. If this resonates, I invite you to reach out for a complimentary consultation to see if we might be a good fit. I wish you well on your journey!
Our relationships with others--partners, friends, family, co-workers, and community members--add meaning to our lives. I use a family systems approach, which means I explore your past and present relationships, so you can function better and increase fulfillment. Whether I meet with just you or your entire family, I look at how current and past interactions may contribute to current challenges, as well as ways relationships can help resolve a problem. My work helps you uncover underlying issues, so you gain greater insight and find solutions, rather than just looking at symptoms. We will look at relationship patterns, triggers and coping strategies, and how they affect you and others in your life. I want to help you address current issues so you can cultivate stronger relationships. I rely on techniques from a variety of perspectives, including emotionally focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Understanding and addressing the dynamic of ADHD in relationships is also a specialty area.
My work is influenced by the thought of existentialist philosophers and psychologists who speak with compassion to a profound and uniquely human dilemma: we are both burdened with and ennobled by a quest for meaning in the face of suffering. Psychotherapy provides a safe and intimate space in which we might expand our capacity to bear suffering and to find meaning within and through it. Depth psychology proposes that the psyche consists of both conscious and unconscious thoughts, impulses, fantasies, and ideas. Symptoms (depression, anxiety, addictions, etc.) are more than painful indicators of psychopathology; they are messages, metaphors, elements of a narrative moving us toward growth, insight, and individuation. Depth psychology embraces paradox. Caught in "complexes," we are simultaneously aware and unaware of how we are behaving in relation to self and others. We struggle to make sense of how our cherished relationships are falling apart and unable to articulate the source of our discontent. Depth psychology offers no "cure". Instead, it is a healing journey into the mystery of the psyche, a process of refinement and increased awareness, bringing us freedom to choose differently and creatively.
At Wild Mind Counseling, we believe your mind isn't something to tame. It's something to understand and embrace. Our approach to healing is relational and trauma-informed, rooted in the belief that meaningful change happens through authentic connection. We hold both acceptance and change, honoring the complex, creative parts of who you are while building a life that genuinely fits you. Grounded in inclusive, liberation-oriented care, we work with individuals, couples, families, and people across all relationship structures, and we collaborate with each client to create change that feels sustainable, not forced.ed
Let’s be real… Hi, I’m Raleigh! I promise to always be up front and honest with you so let’s get a tough conversation out of the way… Therapy is hard work. You probably found your way here because you feel stuck, alone, confused or afraid and if you’ve seen commercials or pop psychology selling you the latest quick path to eternal happiness then you might start to wonder if you are the problem… I hate to break the illusion but those easy solutions do not exist. Even the most talented therapist can’t help you to insight without time and the most important part of the puzzle: Your inner world and commitment to trying something new. Life is an ebb and flow of good times and tough times. Can we maximize your happiness? Absolutely — But can we become so enlightened that we never have to experience hardship, suffering, loneliness, heartbreak or grief ever again? Unfortunately not… That’s the bad news but let’s get to the good news: We can learn to ride the ebbs and flows of life — and just as happiness can teach us depths of feelings that we never knew existed, pain can also be a teacher if we can find the bravery to face it head on. That’s where I come in! I can’t promise it will be easy but I can promise that you won’t have to do it alone. If you can find it in yourself to do the work then I will be with you every step of the way with my knowledge, expertise, curiosity, understanding and toolkit of evidence-based and holistic therapeutic techniques. Together we can work to create the individualized therapy to empower you to build the authentic and fulfilling life that YOU want… It all sounds a little bittersweet doesn’t it? Well the only way out is through — but the juice is worth the squeeze, I promise.

I am the director of MacPherson Pacific Counseling Services, a dynamic new option in the treatment of chemical dependency, problem gambling, and sex addiction in the Seattle area. Your experience will be individualized and goal-focused. You will develop the tools to reclaim your life from addiction and compulsive behavior and begin to develop a path towards healing and wholeness for both yourself and your support network of family and loved ones. In both individual sessions and groups with others also walking the healing path you will challenge yourself, access reservoirs of strength within yourself, learn to connect, and you will grow.
Each person is unique and has a story to tell. I will want to hear your story. I do my best to provide an empathic atmosphere where a person can feel safe to express any experience, however difficult it may be. Therapy will be different for each person depending upon their needs and temperament. For some people, I say little and provide support and encouragement. For others, I am more active speaking frequently and challenging them to think in new ways. Ultimately, change occurs through the therapeutic relationship.
I use a psychodynamic, relational approach to therapy. This means I'm interested in helping you safely examine the ways in which your early experiences may be shaping your emotions, worldviews and relationship patterns. I'm committed to creating a secure therapeutic connection with you. I believe our connection can serve as a crucible for your healing and transformation. Within the safety of our relationship, I can assist you with exploring and understanding your inner feelings and needs, while helping you link new insights with effective self-care skills. Depending on your inclinations, we may focus on a single, specific challenge, or we might explore your circumstances more broadly. My primary interest is in your holistic healing and growth, and I consider it an honor to be a part of such a personal and transformational process.
