Falls Church is an independent city in the state of Virginia. It is named after an Episcopal church which served as a recruiting station during the American Revolution. The church in turn was named after its proximity to the Great Falls of the Potomac River. Falls Church became an independent city in 1948.

Falls Church has 14,600 inhabitants. The population increased by 19% from 2010 to 2017. The racial composition of Falls Church is 72% white, 10% Hispanic, 9% Asian, and 5% black. Foreign-born people make up 17% of the city’s population.
