What's My Approach to Therapy?
If you’re reading this, you might feel stuck—maybe anxious, disconnected, or like you’re carrying more than most people can see. You might be wondering why certain patterns keep showing up in your relationships, or why you react so strongly to things that others seem to handle with ease. Maybe you’ve even tried therapy before and walked away thinking, “No one really gets me,” or “Nothing ever changes.” If that sounds familiar, you're not alone—and you're exactly the kind of person I work best with.
My approach is grounded in two things: deep empathy and honest, direct conversation. I believe therapy should feel safe—but not passive. You deserve a space where you can show up fully, be met with compassion, and also be gently challenged when it’s time to face the hard stuff. That’s where the real healing happens. We don’t just talk about symptoms—we look at the root. We connect the dots between your past experiences and your present pain so you can understand why you feel the way you do, and begin to shift it.
I specialize in working with trauma, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), complex PTSD, and unresolved childhood experiences that still affect you today. I also work with couples who find themselves stuck in painful cycles and want to reconnect on a deeper level. I understand the unique challenges of military service, first responder roles, and high-stress professions—not just from textbooks, but from personal experience.
Our work together won’t be about quick fixes or surface-level advice. It will be about building real insight, lasting change, and a stronger connection to yourself. You don’t have to do it alone—and it doesn’t have to feel so heavy. Therapy with me is a space where you can feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow into the version of yourself that’s been waiting beneath the pain. If you’re ready to do the work, I’m ready to walk with you.
My Practice & Services
Echo Harbor Mental Health is a trauma-informed group therapy practice dedicated to helping adults and couples heal from the inside out. We specialize in treating PTSD, complex PTSD, childhood trauma, relational wounds, and the lingering effects of high-stress or life-altering experiences. Our practice is rooted in the belief that many of the struggles people face today—like anxiety, depression, emotional reactivity, or relationship issues—are often symptoms of deeper, unresolved pain. Our goal is to help you feel safe enough to explore those roots and strong enough to heal them.
We provide all of our services through secure telehealth, so clients across Pennsylvania can access quality care from the comfort and safety of their own environment. This virtual model allows for greater flexibility in scheduling, eliminates the stress of driving or parking, and gives you the ability to create a therapy space that feels private and grounding.
Our therapists bring a diverse mix of professional training and real-life experience. Some of us come from military or first responder backgrounds and understand firsthand what it means to carry trauma in environments where vulnerability isn’t always safe or encouraged. We work with people who may have tried therapy before and felt misunderstood or unseen—and we do things differently. We are direct, compassionate, and deeply committed to walking with our clients through the messy, meaningful work of change.
We currently offer individual therapy and couples counseling, and are in the process of expanding to include group therapy and educational workshops focused on topics such as trauma recovery, emotional regulation, boundaries, and relationship dynamics. Our future plans include both virtual and in-person retreat opportunities for clients seeking deeper immersion in the healing process.
We also know that access to therapy can be challenging—especially when money is tight or insurance options are limited. That’s why we offer a range of payment options, including in-network insurance billing, out-of-network reimbursement support, direct pay, and a needs-based sliding scale. Our billing portal makes it easy to view and pay invoices, and our team is happy to help you navigate any questions about coverage.
At Echo Harbor, we don't believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every client’s story is unique, and so is their path to healing. If you're ready to feel more connected to yourself, break free from patterns that no longer serve you, and build something stronger from what you’ve survived—we’re here for you.
My Role as a Therapist
Being a therapist isn?t just my profession?it?s my calling. I see this work as a privilege. Every time someone sits across from me and trusts me with their story, I know I?m being invited into something sacred. I don?t take that lightly.
My role isn?t to ?fix? you. It?s to walk alongside you as you do the hard, brave work of healing. I?m here to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to keep going?even when it gets tough. I believe in showing up fully, listening deeply, and telling the truth with compassion. Therapy with me is real, human, and rooted in mutual respect.
I believe people can heal. I believe patterns can change. And I believe that even the most painful experiences can be transformed into wisdom, strength, and deeper connection. That?s what keeps me doing this work?and why I show up every day with my whole heart.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I didn?t come into this work just because I studied it?I came into it because I lived it. As a Marine Corps veteran, a trauma survivor, and someone who?s navigated grief, betrayal, and identity loss, I know firsthand how heavy life can get. I?ve been the one struggling with anger I couldn?t explain, the one trying to hold everything together on the outside while falling apart internally. I?ve had those moments of thinking, ?No one would understand this,? and ?I should be able to handle it.?
What I?ve learned through my own healing?and through walking beside others in theirs?is that strength doesn?t mean stuffing it down. Real strength is facing the hard things and still choosing to move forward. That understanding shapes everything I do as a therapist.
I bring empathy not because I read it in a book, but because I?ve sat in the hard places myself. And I bring directness because I know that sometimes, we need someone to gently?but firmly?call us into our own growth. My work is grounded in deep respect for your story, a clear understanding of trauma?s complexity, and a commitment to doing more than just helping you ?cope.? I want you to heal?and I believe that?s possible because I?ve done that work, too.
So if you?ve ever felt like you were ?too much,? or ?too broken,? or like therapy never really helped before?I want you to know that this time can be different. You?re not alone, and you don?t have to figure it out by yourself anymore.
