My Approach to Helping
I help people identify the real problem that's stopping them from achieving their goals. The next step is solving the problem satisfactorily in a reasonable time frame. I use traditional and creative approaches, such as writing, drawing, discussing dreams, viewing movies, or reading stories. You do not need to have an art background. A simple stick figure will do. As a writer, I enjoy working with people who enjoy the creative process and value a holistic view of life. All my work with people is given in the spirit of helpfulness and getting to the "and they all lived happily ever after" part of their lives.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Realistically, every professional is not the same or equally trained or interested in every topic of therapy. Perhaps there was a mis-match between therapist and client. Try again, interview the therapist, don't sign up with the first one. Take charge of your therapy and hire the one for you!
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
I have some general guidelines about how long therapy takes. I tell clients that I try and work myself out of a job as quickly as I can, but that means we both will work toward a solution. It could be as quick as a few sessions or as long as a lifetime.
