What's My Approach to Therapy?

Hello! I'm an associate marriage and family therapist with a variety of experience working in community mental health settings. I'm grateful to have had amazing opportunities to work with a variety of age groups, cultures, and populations. I received my Master of Science in school-based family counseling and marriage and family therapy from California State University, Los Angeles, and my Bachelor of Arts in geography from the University of California, Berkeley.

Since childhood, I've always felt emotions deeply and often found myself listening and supporting others in both personal and professional capacities, which led me to pursue a career as a mental health professional. My lived experiences as a first-generation Filipina-American have set the foundation for my work as a culturally competent, trauma-informed, and person-centered clinician. I deeply understand the impacts that intergenerational trauma, family dynamics, and expectations have on the way one sees and shows up in the world. I have supported school-aged children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigate life transitions, family conflicts, anxiety, depression, and grief using a family-systems, strengths-based, attachment theory, and somatic framework.

For my work with couples, I am excited to utilize theories and techniques from emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to help improve communication, understand relational dynamics, and resolve conflicts, thereby enhancing relationship satisfaction, creating a setting for growth, and facilitating healing.

I provide a warm, non-judgmental, and client-led space for you to explore parts of yourself, relationships, and curiosities as you work towards becoming your most authentic self. I will join you wherever you are in your journey to untangle patterns, ambivalence, and disconnects in your life that may be impeding how you show up for yourself and in your relationships. I strongly believe that the healing that happens within will naturally radiate outward. I value authenticity and collaboration—we are a team. I am committed to helping you understand yourself, set healthy boundaries, and meet your individual needs. You are the expert of your life, and I'm just along for the ride. My Practice & Services

I am a primary therapist at Daybreak Counseling Center. At Daybreak, we provide effective psychotherapy, counseling, and mental health services for children, teens, adults, and couples at our offices in Long Beach and Cerritos. We also offer convenient online, video-based teletherapy sessions throughout California, which can be conducted from the comfort of your own home, at your convenience. We offer a client-centered approach to every client we see. That means we treat every client uniquely with the best approach that suits their needs and concerns. To do so, we draw from a wide variety of therapy modalities, whereas most other practices typically have one modality that often does not address or meet the needs of everyone coming in.

We work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, providing services that span from therapy for depression and anxiety to parenting support, couples therapy, and personal growth work. In a comfortable, confidential, and supportive atmosphere, we offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each of our clients' individual needs to help them attain the personal growth they are striving to accomplish.
